I am a qualified and experienced Group Analyst with an MA in Consultation and the Organisation: Psychoanalytic Approaches. I set up Oakham Consultancy in 2009 to offer Interpersonal Consultancy to public and private sector organisations.

What I do
My approach is a brand of Interpersonal Consultancy which includes mentoring for managers, strengthening team dynamics and improving communication.
Interpersonal Consultancy helps managers and their teams work together more effectively. My knowledge and understanding of group dynamics and the human processes within teams and organisations is the key ingredient in my offering.
I do not teach people how to do their job, but I do spend time with all stakeholders so that I can understand the dynamics that exist within an organisation’s structures, from everyone’s perspective.
I find out what individuals and teams do, ascertain what the organisational objectives are and what happens as a bi-product of trying to achieve them. I listen to what people have done, the things that have gone well and the things that haven’t gone so well or have caused difficulties for staff and the organisation.
I look at the working relationships between staff and how these particular relationships have come about. The key factor here is to separate the personal and the group processes and then to give teams time to reflect upon their collective work but also give individual staff space to understand the undercurrents that have been influencing them so that they can notice when these are at risk of reoccurring. The result is that all concerned are able to work together more effectively.

- A clinical team at a nationally renowned Children’s Hospital
My consultancy has led to improved communication between sub sections within the team. I helped the organisation to clarify roles and responsibilities and establish a robust management structure.
- A Specialist Mental Health team at an NHS Foundation Trust
I was brought in to facilitate the establishment and maintenance of a new clinical service, to help create realistic, sustainable goals and to manage interpersonal tensions. I was also a sounding board for the service manager.
- A voluntary organisation in West Norfolk
I provided mentoring to the Chief Executive and facilitated communication in the management team.
- A Prison In-Reach Team in the East of England
My consultancy has enabled the team to address and manage personal and patient risk.
- A Children’s Voluntary Organisation in the North East of England
I helped a team of child and family workers reflect upon the impact of the difficult situations they face and how to usefully use this understanding in their work.
